Orthodontist

What does he do?

He is the dentist who specializes in correcting the position of teeth with fixed or removable corrective appliances (braces, aligners and others). He also treats growth anomalies of the jaws.

When should you consult an orthodontist?

It is recommended that all children get a first orthodontic evaluation at about seven years old. The orthodontist assesses the global dental development and checks the occlusion of the jaws. Orthodontic treatments can also correct speaking, chewing or breathing difficulties (sleep apnea). A referral from your general dentist is not necessary to consult an orthodontist.
